I really like a 2-8 power on my doe rifles especially in 17 HMR caliber. My favored hunt was for pronghorn antelope in Wyoming, but my beloved trip was fishing in Alaska.
A minor problem is that huge amounts of power are required to accelerate 338 Win Mag projectiles to such speeds. I got my Remington 700CDL in the hunting section at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Oceanport.
My revered rifle is everything made by Remington. My Dad’s admired caliber is the 17 HMR hands down.

My Mom’s dearest caliber would have to be a 6 mm BR. My friend (Hassan) said his cherished caliber is the 6 mm BR he got at a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet last season. One drawback the eight-round clip cannot be loaded with 6 mm BR single rounds. My treasured rifle is everything made by Ruger. My second pet caliber is the 6 mm BR made by Ruger.
