My friends and I like the 243 Winchester best for deer hunting. The best all around caliber I own is probably the 270 Magnum from Bass Pro Shops in Bardstown. The best caliber for Texas Whitail is the 243 Winchester, with 117 Gr.Softpoints. My mom’s favorite rifle is my new Weatherby Vanguard Sporter with the checkered maple chambered in 243 Winchester and 270 Magnum.
I got my Weatherby 270 Magnum last fall at Wiley Outdoor Sports in Bardstown. My dad said his favorite caliber is the 270 Magnum he got at a NWTF banquet last season. Our favorite rifle is the 270 Magnum I picked up online at the NRA store.
One issue for the 243 Winchester is that it isn’t very powerful. For deer hunting I like oil finish checkered maple stocks and high gloss blue 243 Winchester barrels. My brother’s favorite riffle to shoot would be my Weatherby Vanguard Sporter 270 Magnum semi automatic.
